Moving Anxiety

I’ve been living in my current apartment for 3 years. I’ve been in this town for 3 1/2 years. I never completely liked it here, but it is way better than where I was living before. For the past year, all I’ve thought about is moving somewhere else and moving on to bigger and better things, but when the time finally came, I wasn’t ready. I didn’t realize that I’d gotten so comfortable here. I felt safe and in control. Moving and leaving my comfort zone was very intimidating. This was something that I’ve never experienced before. I lived in the …

Podcasts 2016

I’m back with my yearly podcasts update! You can check out last year’s update here. I haven’t been listening to podcasts as much as I used to but I plan on changing that this year. Also, I haven’t really discovered many new podcasts. That’s probably because I’m behind on a lot of them and adding new podcasts would’ve just made things worse. I hope to get caught up by the end of summer so that I can finally listen to something new and different. I’m still using the official Apple Podcasts app. So far, so good. I just wish they’d add …

Badges Have Arrived!

Using this as a test post to see how my Instagram photos will show up. I know I haven’t been blogging lately, but I’ve been busy with lots of other things. I post pics to Instagram somewhat frequently so I’m hoping I can keep my blog from going dead by posting those photos on here with more info about them.

The Instagram photos seem to show up really large. I tried using code to make it smaller, but unfortunately the code only works for wordpress.com sites and not self-hosted WordPress sites like mine. I guess it will have to do for now, until I can find a better solution.

I just got my badges in the mail today. I’m so excited for PAX East 2013! I will be leaving for Boston, MA in a week. Yay!

Until next time.

I’m Still Here

I have been missing in action lately when it comes to my blog, but I definitely haven’t forgotten about it. It’s been so busy here lately. I had finals to deal with plus I’ve been looking for a new apartment because I need more space. I’ve also been spending a lot of time getting caught up on video games since I don’t have any classes until mid-January. I might be posting an update on my gaming sometime next week.

I recently realized that there are only 12 weeks left until it’s time for me to get prepared for the trip to Boston, MA for PAX East 2013. This means packing & buying clothes & getting my hair done. During the next 12 weeks, I have to decided to stick to a diet & exercise plan. My main goal is to lose a bit of weight & to tone up. My reward for sticking to the plan the full 12 weeks is a mini shopping spree. I will allow myself to buy all new clothes for the trip to Boston if I can stick to it. I really want some new clothes, but I haven’t found any excuses to spend the money so hopefully this will motivate me to stick to the plan so I can splurge on a few things like shoes.

I do not plan on eating anything specific, but I will try to limit foods with fat as well as eat only a certain amount of calories per day. I will also try to drink more water. As far as exercising goes, I have devised a weekly workout that should help me accomplish my goals as long as I’m dedicated & stick to it. I may be posting my workout schedule by the end of the week. I know that my new schedule seems a bit intense, but I think I can do it. I’m not going to  over do it though. If I feel like my body needs some rest, then I’ll take a day off. I’m going to try to post a weekly update of my progress to help keep myself in check.

WordPress just released the 3.5 update so during the next few weeks I’m going to be getting my blog ready so I can update it from 3.4.2 to the 3.5 version. I’ve also been thinking about doing a new theme for 2013, but we’ll see how the new update works with my current theme first. I hope I can make all the changes before New Year’s Eve so that I can have the new blog go live by midnight to celebrate the New Year, but if I don’t it will be fine. I’ve also been thinking about changing my domain name. We’ll see.

Lastly, I’m really interested in doing the Low Ammo Podcast again soon. I really want to host it on this site, but if I can’t I’ll just use a free site & provide links to it here. Hopefully, the Low Ammo Podcast will be back in 2013. I’m also hoping I can find some reliable people to be on the show.

Until next time.

Planning For PAX East 2013

PAX East 2013

I went to PAX East and PAX Prime in 2011, but I wasn’t able to attend either event this year. If you don’t know what PAX is, it’s the Penny Arcade Expo. It’s a huge convention for gamers: tabletop, handheld, console, PC and just about any other type of game. If people play it, then it’s probably at PAX. PAX started as a small convention in Seattle, WA in the fall of 2003, but it grew very quickly. PAX in Seattle became PAX Prime and PAX East was born in the spring of 2010 in Boston, MA so that more people could attend the convention. However, there are a lot of people that attend both events each year. About 70,000 people attend each convention every year, and it’s still getting larger. So much so that PAX Australia was just recently announced! I would have preferred Japan, but I’ll take it (not that I’m going or anything, but maybe I will be able to someday). It will be held sometime next summer (and each summer thereafter). Unfortunately, I won’t be going next year, but I would like to go summer 2014. Which means I’ll have to get a passport. Pictures, ugh!

PAX East 2013 will be held March 22-24, 2013, which is 120 days away. I have a lot to do. I’ve already purchased two 3-day passes (for me & B). They should arrive about two weeks before PAX. If you’re interested in going, the individual day passes are still available, but the Saturday passes are running low. My hotel room is also booked for March 21-25, 2013. I chose the Revere Hotel because it wasn’t terribly expensive, and I like the decor. Not to mention the complimentary Wi-Fi, which most hotels charge for these days (at the least the ones I’ve stayed in).

I haven’t purchased plane tickets yet because I’m waiting until about 4-6 weeks before the event when the prices should be lower. Once the planet tickets are out of the way, all I’ll have to do is figure out the minor details of the trip such as what & where to eat each day, how many checked bags, and what panels to attend. Blah!

At the moment, I don’t know any other people that are going to PAX. I keep trying to get some of my friends to go, but things never seem to work out. Hopefully, this year I will meet some awesome new people at PAX, and maybe I can attend with them in the future. PAX is great and lots of fun, and I can’t wait until March arrives!

Until next time.
